Singapore president meets Sayyid Fahd

MUSCAT — President S.R. Nathan of the Republic of Singapore yesterday received His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers, in Al Bustan Palace Hotel yesterday.

The president expressed his delight over visiting the Sultanate as the guest of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He also praised the official talks he had with His Majesty the Sultan and the results reached which would reflect positively on the two countries.

He also expressed his admiration of the achievements made by the country at the domestic front and in its balanced relations with all countries of the world which earned it the trust and respect of all.

On his turn, Sayyid Fahd affirmed the Sultanate’s keenness on extending the bridges of cooperation with friendly countries on the basis of mutual trust under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.

He also noted that the Sultanate’s relations with Singapore received great attention for their historic dimension and earnest desire for fruitful cooperation, wishing the president and his accompanying delegation a happy stay in the Sultanate. The conversation also dealt with ways of enhancing the fields of existing cooperation between the countries and encouraging private sector investments.

The meeting was attended by Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, minister of commerce and industry and head of the mission of honour accompanying the president and Sheikh Humaid bin Ali al Ma’ani, Sultanate’s ambassador to India, who is the non-resident ambassador to Singapore.
