Qatari emir receives Sayyid Fahd

DOHA — His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers, arrived here yesterday to take part in the 21st Arab Summit on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Qatari Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani received Sayyid Fahd upon his arrival at the Doha International Airport. Others in the welcoming party included Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, crown prince of Qatar; Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabr Al Thani, prime minister and foreign minister; Amr Moussa, secretary-general of the Arab League; Rashid bin Mubarak Al Gheilani, the Sultanate’s ambassador to Qatar, and members of the embassy.

“We are hoping that the Arab brothers will make good strides in enhancing cooperation that will help realise aspirations for a more stable and prosperous future.

The summit is being held at a time the Arab nation is passing through a critical juncture and events that call for rapprochement among Arab brethren,” Sayyid Fahd said.

“It’s been a great honour for me to attend the summit on behalf of His Majesty the Sultan who is following with great attention the regional and international developments. His Majesty hopes that the summit would come out with decisions that would support stability in the region.”
