Oman, Egypt to widen trade ties

MUSCAT — Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, commerce and industry minister met at Al Bustan Palace Hotel yesterday. Engg. Rasheed Mohammed Rasheed, minister of commerce and industry and Dr Mahmoud Mohieldeen, minister of investment from the Arab Republic of Egypt, within the context of President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak’s current visit to the Sultanate.

They discussed a number of issues related to enhancing the volume of trade and investment co-operation between the Sultanate and Egypt and highlighted the efforts made by each side to promote development in both countries.

The two sides have initially agreed to hold a joint seminar in the Sultanate in the last quarter of this year in which a number of economic experts from both countries will take part.

The seminar aims at familiarising with the efforts made by the Sultanate in serving the development purpose.

This follows reports and economic bulletins published by the international organisations, appreciating the good performance of the Omani economy.
