Fahd receives deputy PM of Qatar

MUSCAT — His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers, received here yesterday Abdullah bin Hamed Al Attiyah, deputy prime minister and minister of energy and industry in Qatar, who is also the head of the Qatari-side in the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee.

The guest conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, emir of Qatar, to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, along with their best wishes to His Majesty, the government and the Omani people.

Sayyid Fahd praised the existing cooperation between the two brotherly countries and the results that have been reached. The meeting also dealt with the ways of activating deliberations of the joint committee, particularly in the economic and scientific spheres, and encouraging the private sector to play its role in investment fields. A number of international issues were reviewed. Abdullah bin Hamed Al Attiyah expressed his happiness and that of his accompanying delegation for meeting the officials in the Sultanate, which come within the context of cementing ties of fruitful cooperation.

He also stressed on the importance of the committee’s outcome in terms of positive steps thanks to the directives of the wise leadership in both countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr Mohammed bin Hamed Al Romhi, minister of oil and gas and head of the Omani side in the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee; Rashid bin Mubarak Al Ghailani, Sultanate’s ambassador to Qatar and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khatir, Qatari ambassador to the Sultanate.
