Unstable weather likely for a few days

MUSCAT — Weather will remain unstable in different regions of the Sultanate in the next few days, according to the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and Meteorology. The latest numerical weather prediction charts indicate that a trough of low pressure will affect the Sultanate.

Moderate to heavy rains and, sometimes, thundershowers with gusty winds will start over Musandam governorate and Al Batinah region today and are forecast to extend gradually to cover Muscat and Buraimi governorates, Dahirah, Dakhiliyah and Sharqiyah regions by tomorrow and Wednesday. Rains are also expected to affect some parts of Al Wusta region.

The Directorate-General advised the public to be cautious during rain and avoid wadi channels. Fishermen are advised not to venture into seas and follow the latest weather reports. “The seas will be rough during thundershowers and, therefore, it is recommended to be cautious and to follow the weather bulletins to get the latest forecasts,” it said.
