Sultanate, UAE to explore new vistas of cooperation

MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), prime minister and ruler of Dubai, yesterday discussed ways to open up new horizons of cooperation between the two countries in various spheres to serve the joint interest of the Omani and Emirati people, in addition to other issues of common concern.

Sheikh Mohammed, at an audience given to him at Bait Al Barakah here yesterday by His Majesty the Sultan conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to His Majesty. The UAE ruler also wished further progress and prosperity to Omani people under His Majesty’s wise leadership.

His Majesty the Sultan asked him to covey his wishes of good health and happiness to Sheikh Khalifa, praying to the Almighty to protect him and support him with success to realise aspirations of the brotherly Emirati people. The audience was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Sayyid Saud bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, minister of interior, Dr Khamis bin Mubarak Al Alawi, minister of transport and communications; Dr Rajiha bint Abdul Amir bin Ali, minister of tourism;

Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasir Al Bakri, minister of manpower; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qatabi, the Sultanate’s ambassador to the UAE. It was also attended from the UAE side by the delegation accompanying the guest.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said hosted a special luncheon in honour of Sheikh Mohammed and his delegation yesterday.

Sheikh Mohammed was received on his arrival at the Royal Airport by Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers; Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Sayyid Saud bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, minister of interior; Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, minister responsible for foreign affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qatabi, the Sultanate’s ambassador to the UAE, and Mohammed Ali Al Osaimi, UAE’s ambassador to the Sultanate. Sheikh Mohammed left later yesterday and was seen off by Sayyid Fahd, ministers and ambassadors.
