Pre-school education campaign opens

SALALAH — The pre-school national education campaign opened at the Directorate-General of Heritage and Culture Hall yesterday under the auspices of Abdullah bin Aqeel Ibrahim, adviser at the office of the minister of state and governor of Dhofar.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Unicef, the Social Development Ministry and the Omani Women’s Association.

Ibtihaj bint Salim Al Ya’fiyah, supervisor of children’s programmes at Omani Women’s Association in Salalah, gave a speech highlighting the importance of pre-school education and its scientific, psychological, social and positive role for future generations.

“Early childhood development programmes will assist in making children more prepared for education and enable them to join education at the right time. The campaign is an integral part of the continuous scientific knowledge,” she pointed out.

The ceremony included welcoming tableaus by kindergarten students from Dhofar, a poem and documentary film on children’s programmes.

The chief guest then toured a joint exhibition, which comprised the reading, planning, families and arts stands.

During the ceremony, a working paper on the importance of the national pre-school educational campaign and its objectives was presented by the director of the educational programmes department at the DG of Education in Dhofar Governorate.

The head of pre-school education section at the DG of Education in the Al Batina region also presented a working paper on the importance of the kindergarten and its objectives.

The ceremony was attended by government’s officials and sheikhs.
