Municipalities Month Contest panel members visit projects in Mahdha

MAHDHA — The members of the evaluation and judging committee of the 24th Regional Municipalities Month Contest visited the wilayat of Mahdha in the Governorate of Buraimi under the scheme, ‘Towards continued efforts and sustainable development‘.

It was their second leg of a series of visits, headed by Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Ghuraibi, undersecretary for municipal affairs at the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

The wilayat of Mahdha won the HM Cup for the contest in the last two years and is expected to win this year too, having implemented 175 social projects worth above RO1m by the citizens of the wilayat with the help of private firms and dedicated youths.

During the visit, the committee members met the wali of Mahdha, who gave a briefing on the many social service projects being implemented in the wilayat as part of the contest.

Some of the major projects include Madal Park, sports institutes, Al Nakheel Road, linking the east and the west parts of the wilayat.

The new road will help the farmers of the area transport their products easily.
