Fahd in Kuwait representing HM at Arab economic summit

KUWAIT — Representing His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers, arrived here yesterday, heading the Sultanate’s delegation to the two-day Arab Economic Summit, which begins today.

On his arrival at the Emiri Private Airport, Sayyid Fahd and his delegation were received by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jabr Al Sabah, the emir of Kuwait; Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, the crown prince of Kuwait; Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah, the prime minister of Kuwait; Jassem Al Kharafi, the speaker of Al Umma Council, members of the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers and Sheikh Salem bin Suhail Al Ma’ashani, the Sultanate’s ambassador to Kuwait.

Sayyid Fahd said in a statement that the summit will explore the possibility of maximum utilisation of human and natural resources of the Arab states in the development of the region. He also stressed the need to activate the private sector in the process. The participation comes within His Majesty the Sultan’s belief in the significance of such meetings in promoting joint Arab march.

Sayyid Fahd was accompanied by an official delegation comprising Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, minister responsible for foreign affairs; Hamad bin Mohammed Al Rashdi, minister of information; Mohammed bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, secretary-general of the Ministry of National Economy; chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of government officials.

Sayyid Fahd was seen off by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Zaher Al Hinai, minister of justice; Sayyid Al Mutassim bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, minister of state and governor of Muscat; Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, minister of sports affairs; Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed bin Saif Al Shabibi, minister of housing; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, secretary-general of the Council of Ministers; Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, minister of manpower, and the charge d’affaires at the Kuwait embassy.
