Sultanate-Jordan pact on social development

AMMAN — The Sultanate and Jordan yesterday signed an MoU in social fields.

The MoU was signed from the Sultanate’s side by Dr Sharifa bint Khalfan Al Yahyaieyah, social development minister; while Hala Basisu, social development minister in Jordan, signed for her country.

The signing of this MoU comes within the framework of the brotherly relations and cooperation that bind the two countries. It also stems from the importance of developing these relations in the joint interest and benefiting from both sides’ experience in social development spheres.

Dr Sharifa said signing of the MoU aimed at developing the social fields, exchanging expertise and information in elderly, juvenile and childhood care, vocational training, empowerment of handicapped, development of local communities, improving productivity and enabling women to benefit from it.

Based on the MoU, cooperation in the field of researches, social studies, social guidance and planning for preventive programmes will be initiated.

On her part, Hala Basisu said during her visit to the Sultanate last January she reviewed the efforts undertaken by the Sultanate in social fields.

She also pointed out that the MoU signed yesterday complemented the efforts undertaken and the bilateral cooperation in different fields. She also pointed out that the Sultanate implemented a number of social programmes, especially those related to women.
