‘Renna’ unveils its brand, plans

MUSCAT — ‘Renna’ — the newest mobile service provider on the block from the stable of Majan Telecommunications — was unveiled at The Chedi, Muscat yesterday.

With the inking of the reseller pact with OmanMobile, Majan Telecommunications will now be able to resell mobile services under the ‘Renna’ brand name.

Under the terms of agreement, renna will be able to develop and offer their services and manage all aspects of customer relations, including customer care, billing and other after-sales support.

‘Renna’ is an Omani company and is backed by prominent players, including the Al Yousef Group, and a world class team of telecom professionals.

Niklas Nielsen, CEO of ‘Renna’, said his company would create value in the industry and contribute to the growth and development of the telecommunications landscape in the Sultanate.

Highlighting it as an important landmark directive by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), Ghada Mohmmed Al Yousef, director of Majan Telecommunication, said she was happy that her company was the first reseller in the region.

“We wish to thank OmanMobile for trusting Majan Telecommunications and value its partnership. Our aim is to become the best alternative communications provider in the region and to make a positive impact on our host operator and the local community,” she said. Nielsen said ‘Renna’ is Arabic for ringtone, and was coined by Omani-based creative boutique agency, Reality CG.

“‘Renna’ is all about being connected with your friends and family. The logo expresses the journey we want our customers to experience... one of valued offerings, pleasant surprises and easy connectivity,” he said.

He said the brand mark is an interpretation of the physical phenomenon Doppler Effect that illustrates ‘sound in motion’.

Pointing to the logo, Nielsen said it emphasises the ability to talk more on the move, and connects the logo to a “concept based on direct benefits of mobile telephony”.

“The modern and progressive nature of the logo underscores the ethos of the company. The logo’s red colour reflects the passion and competitiveness which are the two core values of our company,” he said.

Describing the strategic direction of the firm, Nielsen said they would penetrate specific “under-served marked segments by offering differentiated services that are easy, efficient and economical”.

“We are focusing entirely on managing customer needs and on what matters most. Based on extensive market research, this no-frills approach will be a welcome alternative to available products and services and one that will bode well for our target segments,” he said.

Asked if Majan Telecommunication would target other countries apart from the Sultanate, Nielsen said: “We first want to establish successfully in this part of the world and when we reach a milestone here we will use it as a stepping stone to look to expand to other countries,” Nielsen said.

Unveiling the firm’s immediate plans, Nielsen said the company would soon establish the customer service and call centre segment.

“We have already tied up with a number of key Omani and international players to enhance distribution capabilities,” he said.

He said ‘Renna’ SIM cards and recharge cards would be available through an expansive network. “We have signed up with some Omani partners and will make sure that our products are available in most outlets in the region.” He said the company would also create career opportunities for highly-qualified Omani nationals. “After going through hundreds of CVs, I must say these young brigades of Omanis are very talented and we are looking forward to recruiting some of them,” he said.
